Photos of Danny House during World War Two to celebrate the 75th Anniversary of VE Day

The daughter of the last butler of Danny House has shared photos with the current owner that her father took during World War Two.

Richard Burrows, who bought the country house near Hurstpierpoint in 2004 to maintain as retirement properties, has shared these photos with the Middy to celebrate VE Day on Friday, May 8. Soldiers marching and posing for photographs can be seen in the photos. The late butler, who Mr Burrows said was only ever known of as Mr Arnold, arrived at Danny House in 1931 having served the Marquis of Salisbury at Hatfield House in Hertfordshire. He worked for the Campions until the 1960s, and there is a cottage at the back of Danny called Arnold's in his memory.
