The Spring Surprise Flower Trail was arranged by Newick Horticultural Society to replace the annual Spring Show, after this year’s was cancelled due to coronavirus restrictions.

Residents and schools in the area all did their part in beautifully arranging flowers and showcasing hand made decorations.

There were also Easter eggs for children following the trail that went down a treat.

Vix Marchant, who came up with the idea said: “As we sat in yet another zoom meeting in early February, in yet another lockdown contemplating the cancellation of yet another Newick Horticultural Spring Show it was all a bit doom & gloom and I just said “surely we can do something, what about a Spring Trail”.

Society member, Linda Faulke added: “We were delighted by all the support. Newick looked wonderfully floriferous, the weather was kind and the displays were uplifting in these difficult times.”

“Already, we have been asked if it can become an annual event and this is certainly something to consider.

“We also hope to go ahead with our Autumn Show in September as usual!”
