Premiere for thriller at Chichester

The series showcases directors who have trained at the CFT – in this instance Tim Hoare. The play runs from August 15-September 2.

Fred’s Diner is set at an American diner on a busy English motorway. Chloe wants to emigrate, Melissa dreams of university, Heather wants to rebuild her life, Sunny wants Heather… and someone is going to kill Fred. This intricately-plotted new play serves up an unsettling portrayal of the darker reaches of intimate relationships, the theatre promises

Cush Jumbo plays Melissa. She is the winner of the Ian Charleson Award 2012 for her performance in As You Like It at the Manchester Royal Exchange. Other credits include She Stoops to Conquer (National Theatre) and Love’s Labour’s Lost (Shakespeare’s Globe).

Olivia Poulet plays Chloe. She featured in Chichester’s Festival 2011 production of Top Girls, which transferred to the West End later that year. Other credits include BBC 2 television comedy The Thick of It, as well as the film In the Loop.

The cast also includes Laurence Dobiesz as Greg, Paul Hickey as Fred, Raad Rawi as Sunny and Tracey Wilkinson as Heather.
