18 inch haircut raises £700 for charity

Amy Tahourdin had her first haircut in four years on March 22

After giving £600 of the money to The Little Princess Trust, Amy Tahourdin said: “It is a fabulous charity that provides wigs for young girls and boys who have lost their own hair due to cancer or other illnesses.

“I think it is unfair that I should get to have long hair and young girls who are sick can’t.”

She gave the remaining money to her school’s chosen charity, which this year is Teenage Cancer Trust.

Ms Tahourdin added: “When the big haircut happened I was nervous but also very excited.

“My hair had become very long after not having it cut properly for four years.”

Her hair was sent to The Little Princess Trust to be made into a wig.

“I would like to say a massive thank you to everyone that sponsored and supported me and believed that I wasn’t too crazy for doing it!”
