The District Council’s Cabinet Grants Panel has agreed to issue grant money to 16 voluntary organisations across Mid Sussex. The grants will be used to deliver a variety of community projects including, setting up new sports facilities, organising holiday activities for young people and providing new equipment for disabled children.

Hurstpierpoint Cricket Club received £7,605 to help repair Fairfield Recreation Ground Pavilion; Sayers Common Petanque and Boules Club benefitted from £2,625 towards a new Petanque and Boules Pitch at Reeds Lane Recreation Ground; and Burgess Hill Youth has £2,200 to contribute towards a holiday activities programme.

“I’m pleased that, even in these testing financial times, the Council is able to continue supporting the wonderful organisations that play such a valuable role in their communities,” said councillor Christopher Snowling, Mid Sussex District Council cabinet member for Health and Community.

“They help so many people in the local community and I’m proud we can help them to keep up the excellent work they are doing.”
