Free for residents, the service was introduced to deal with small jobs ranging from light bulb replacement to minor plumbing repairs. Handyman Simon Parkes averages 40 jobs each week, with his services paid for by Hanover through the estates repair budget, which is expected to save money for the organisation and the occupants of its properties, including Mill Hill Close in Haywards Heath.

Regional manager April Dobson said: “The handyman service is proving to be a real hit amongst our residents. Not only has the service reduced our estate repair costs, it provides a fast responsive repair service.”

Hanover resident Kathy Robertson said: “Response times for repairs have dropped dramatically as Simon is starting to take over more and more work from contractors. The best thing of all is that we now have a dedicated person who we know and trust to come into our homes to complete repairs in a friendly and helpful way.”
