All invited to Lindfield bootcamp for Sasbah

The plight of a mother and son struggling with serious illness and life challenges touched the heart of personal trainer Maxine Hayes.

Maxine’s client Natalie Banbury faced the test of losing weight after three children and the ordeal of her youngest, seven-year-old Ryan, being born with spinda bifida and hydrocephalus.

But with Maxine’s help she is losing the pounds, making friends and changing her life while Ryan is at Lindfield Primary School thanks to the help of head teacher Bob White and his staff.

Now, Lindfield-based Maxine, who runs her own company, Potential Personal Training, is staging a charity bootcamp to raise money for Sasbah, the Sussex Association for Spina Bifida & Hydrocephalus, which has been so central to Natalie’s ability to cope with the challenges she and Ryan face.

Mr White is also supporting the cause by allowing Maxine to use Lindfield Primary School for the event on Saturday February 16.

Maxine said: “The idea of the bootcamp started off because I wanted to do something to help Natalie and something for charity.

“It’s hard to choose which direction to go with because there are so many good causes. But, then Bob White wanted to be involved and I decided to chose Sasbah because it and the school have been so wonderful in getting Ryan to a mainstream school and helping Natalie cope.”

In a testimonial for Maxine, Natalie writes: At the age of 21 I heard the words: ‘I think your baby may have spina bifida’. I can remember this as if it was yesterday. I came away from that appointment with the Sasbah leaflet. I contacted them that day and have been in contact with them ever since.”

The bootcamp, which will run from 12noon to 4pm, will include Sasbah craft stalls, cupcake decorating, hair and beauty area, plus other personal trainers from the area doing workout sessions for anyone who wants to go along.

There will also be a Kids V Grown Ups Bootcamp to encourage the younger participants to appreciate the values of exercise. For those who don’t want to join in a childcare arrangement will be in place so that mums, dads and even grandparents can take part in some form of exercise.

Anyone who wants to take part can either turn up on the day or email Maxine at [email protected] or call her on 07917852989.
