Amy braves hair shave for friend’s treatment

A dedicated friend is sacrificing her hair to raise money for a mother with terminal cervical cancer.

Amy Beckwith, from Burgess Hill, is getting ready to shave her hair off to raise money for treatment for Sam Beavan, a mother of two young girls from Brighton.

Amy hopes the money raised from her drastic hair cut will help Sam raise a total of £100,000 for potentially life-saving cancer treatment in Mexico.

The Beavan family has already sold their car and the children their toys to contribute to the funds for Sam’s pioneering treatment.

“Sam has two young children and desperately wants to see them grow up,” said Amy.

“Everyone knows how much I love my hair and how much it means to me, but nothing means more to someone than their family. So I thought if I lose something important to me I could hopefully help Sam’s children keep something incomparably important to them, their mum.

“She knows the odds are stacked against her but she will do anything to get through this and be with her family. I will do anything I can to help her reach her goal so please help by donating. I would love for as many people as possible to come to the event and show their support and in the process hopefully raise some last minute cash.”

Amy has raised just over £1,000 of her £1,500 total and will be having her head shaved outside Simon Webster Hair on February 21 at 1.30pm.
