A historian from Haywards Heath has written a book with the proceeds going to St Giles church in Horsted Keynes.

Ann Govas had previously written a book about Jane Austen’s relations in the local area, which proved popular raising nearly £800 for the church.

The author and historian’s second book is entitled The Story of Westhall House Horsted Keynes.

Mrs Govas said: “It is now an Abbeyfield care home, but in the past it has been owned by a British officer who fought in the American War of Independence, an uncle and cousin of Jane Austen, and a tank commander, who was awarded the M.C. and the Croix de Guerre in the First World War.”

The book will be launched on Friday, September 21 at 7pm with a quiz, a light supper and a copy of the book, at the Martindale Centre, Horsted Keynes. Email ann.govas7@gmail.com.
