ARDINGLY CINEMA: We are pleased to confirm that the next Ardingly Film, Mr Holmes, starring Sir Ian McKellen, will be screened at Hapstead Hall on Thursday, December 3, at 7.30pm. There will be free mince pies and mulled wine on the evening to get us into the Christmas spirit, too. Tickets can be purchased for £6 from Fellows Bakers, the Ardingly Post Office, the Gallery Cafe or on the door on the night.
Mr Holmes is a new twist on the world’s most famous detective. Set in 1947, an aging Sherlock Holmes returns from a journey to Japan, where he has been in search of a rare plant with powerful restorative qualities. Now, in his remote Sussex seaside farmhouse, Holmes spends his days tending to his bees, with only the company of his housekeeper and her young son, Roger. Grappling with the diminishing powers of his mind, Holmes comes to rely upon the boy as he revisits the circumstances of the unsolved case that forced him into retirement, and searches for answers to the mysteries of life and love - before it’s too late.
The door at Hapstead Hall will open at 7pm and the film starts at 7.30pm. Refreshments will be available before the film and during the 15 minute interval. We greatly look forward to, hopefully, seeing you there
