Army Reserve Band set to perform at Borde Hill

Gates open at 6.30pm when ticket holders can enjoy a complimentary glass of wine to go with their own picnic on the South Lawn where there will also be hot food and other drinks available for purchase.

The band will then perform Beating Retreat in front of the Elizabethan mansion at 7.30pm.

The Royal Yeomanry was presented the Freedom of Mid Sussex in September 2014 and are the only military unit to be so honored in the district.

Recently in May 2016, the regiment was awarded their new Guidon by Her Majesty The Queen, in a ceremony at Buckingham Palace.

The Band of the Royal Yeomanry is a ‘State’ band regularly being called upon to support the Country’s major ceremonial occasions such as State Investitures, Royal Garden Parties and the Changing of the Guard at Buckingham Palace.

Being an Army Reserve Band its members are drawn from many backgrounds including military music, London’s musical colleges and conservetoires as well as non-musical civilian careers.

The ABF Soldiers’ Charity gives a lifetime of support to soldiers and former soldiers from the British Army, and their immediate families, when they are in need.

The charity make grants to individuals through their Regiments and Corps and support a wide range of specialist charities that sustain the British Army ‘family’, both at home and around the world and have been so doing since 1944.

With the help of events such as this, the charity will continue to work to support future generations of soldiers and their dependents.
