QUILTING GROUP: A new working quilting group has started in Balcombe in Bramble Hall. Beginners will be taught and more experienced quilters will meet like minded people. The aim of the group is to work through projects together and exchange knowledge. The next session will be Thursday 16 June from 1 – 3.00 pm. The cost is £10 per session. CINEMA – The next film in the Victory Hall is Eddie the Eagle on Friday 17 June at 7.30 pm. The film stars Taron Egerton, Hugh Jackman, Tom Costello and Jack Costello, rated PG. Tickets cost £6 available from Threads.
NGS GARDENS OPEN: Once again, three gardens in Balcombe are opening under the National Garden Scheme on Saturday 18 June from 12 noon until 5.00 pm. They are 46 Westup Farm Cottages, Winterfield , Oldlands Avenue and
Krawden, Victoria Road. Tea and homemade cakes will be served at Krawden and the entry fee of £5 includes all three gardens. NGS supports nursing and caring charities.
The next CRAFT, GIFT & LOCAL PRODUCE FAIR: will be on Saturday 18 June 10.00 am until 2.00 pm in the Victory Hall. The charity represented at this market is M.E. Research with Barbara Saunders and her team fund-raising with a raffle table and organising the refreshments from the WI Room. If you would like more information and would like to showcase your own craft idea then do call Glenda Thomson on 811462, she would love to hear from you. The other dates this year are Saturday 24 September and Saturday 12 November.
There is a good mixture of local Produce and Crafts & Gifts this month with Richard’s pork products, Luigi with pastas, oils and sauces, chilli jams and marinades from Game On and of course Mary’s cakes, chutneys and jams. Don’t forget to try the Monty Bojangles chocolates too – you’ll be hooked! Among the crafts will be hand-knitted children’s items, fused glass objects, handmade cards and jewellery, lovely hen doorstops, ceramics, bead with metal and leather ware objects and lots more to browse around. You will also see upholstery and caning ideas, shabby chic items, and the useful favourites in Phoenix Cards, Neal’s Yard and Usborne Books. Come along for a leisurely look around and lunch for a worthy cause.
RUBBISH FREIGHTER: two freighters will be available for use by residents on Sunday 19 June from 10.00 until 12 noon in the Victory Hall Car Park. One will be for garden waste and the other for general waste.
HAMPSTEAD CHORISTERS CONCERT: On Sunday 19 June at 4pm
at St Mary’s, Balcombe, the Choristers of Hampstead Parish Church will be giving a Concert to raise money for the church funds. David Moore will be on the Piano and Organ. The programme will include choir pieces and vocal/instrumental solos. Enjoy some beautiful music followed by afternoon tea! Donations towards our Church refurbishment will be gratefully received on the day.
VICTORY PLAYERS AGM: takes place on Tuesday 21 June at 7.30 pm in the Forest Room of the Balcombe Club.
PTA BARN DANCE: Friday 24 June 7.30 pm till late. Music, Drinks, Dancing and BBQ with a Cowboys and Cowgirls theme. Tickets are available from firstname.lastname@example.org.
