BALCOMBE FLOWER CLUB: Sadly the meeting on Friday 18 November will be the last meeting of the Club. Our demonstrator will be Angie Hyde and her theme is One Winter’s Day. Doors open at 7. 30 pm for an 8 pm start. We look forward to seeing our members and welcome visitors. Balcombe Flower Club was founded by Mrs Chapman and some of her friends in1970. These ladies enjoyed arranging flowers both at home and in Church. The first meeting was held in the parish rooms once a month. They started with practice evenings and then they had demonstrators to come and give them new ideas on flower arranging. Coffee mornings and other fund raising activities were held to bring money into the club. Gradually the club grew and had to move to the Victory Hall. As well as doing the church flowers they also decorated the Victory Hall stage when the gardeners had their autumn show. Membership increased to nearly 50 members, which was excellent for a small village. Over the years with the decline of members we moved back to the Parish Rooms. Visitors and some old members are coming back for our last meeting. We have had to move back to the Victory Hall. Thank you to all our members and friends who have helped with coffee mornings etc over the years. To those ladies who have helped to keep the club going this year. When the Doors close at the end of our meeting on November 18 it will signal the end of 46 years of Balcombe Flower Club.
