Bid to demolish pub for new homes

A planning application has been submitted to Lewes District Council to demolish a disused pub and build housing on the site.

The application proposes the demolition and removal of the existing but empty Royal Oak Public House, on Ditchling Road, Ditchling Common, and the creation of 12 new dwellings.

The plan includes two, three and four-bedroom housing in the new-build development.

Lewes District Council received the application on June 1 and has received no objections so far.

The application would involve the demolition of a flat above the pub. The pub is vacant with the windows and doors boarded up.
