Bluebell Railway and Ditchling Museum win funding

Ditchling Museum of Art and Craft and The Bluebell Railway have both won funding from the Arts Council’s Museums Resilience fund.

More than £32,000 was awarded to Ditchling Museum, which the museum will spend on ‘strengthening the retail and commercial operations’ of the museum and developing the its ambitions to become a centre of excellence for research.

The Bluebell Railway has received £84,150 to transform one of its vintage railway carriages to become a place where visitors can learn about the railway’s history in a fun environment.

John Orna-Ornstein, Director of Museums, said: “The £17m we are awarding in this round will support the brilliant work museums are doing to become more sustainable organisations.”

More than 100 museums were awarded grants.
