A BODY has been discovered at Loxwood in the Wey and Arun canal this morning (May 21).
Emergency services are at the scene and are in the process of recovering the body, according to Rob Searle from the Wey and Arun Canal Trust, who said the body was discovered in the lock behind the Onslow Arms pub.
“We’re cooperating with the police. We’ve closed the canal and we will keep it closed until the police say we can open it,” he said.
“They’re in the process now of recovering the body .”
It is not yet known if the body is that of a man or a woman, or how they came to be in the canal near the road bridge. The discovery was made in the early hours of this morning.
