A school playground has been officially opened by a professional footballer.

Paddy McCourt opened the playground at St Augustines CE Primary School in Scaynes Hill on Thursday.

The playground now boasts a new climbing frame and slide for the children to use.

Paddy McCourt, who is a father at the school, plays for Brighton and Hove Albion Football Club and represents the Northern Ireland National Team.

The children all had a chance to meet him and to get his autograph.

The area will be used at break times to enrich the children’s physical activity, building on the Olympic legacy of ‘Sport for all’.
