British BMX champion Harry, 8, takes to the track in Burgess Hill

Burgess Hill is home to BMX British champion Harry Schofield.

The eight-year-old travels across the world to compete in championships.

He was joined by dozens of youngsters yesterday (August 21), at the town’s BMX track.

The Rock Up and Ride event provided free BMX coaching sessions with professional coach Niki Spears.

It was organised by Respect Youth Club and Burgess Hill Town Council and funded by Burgess Hill District Lions Club.

A spokesman for the town council said: "Seventy young people enjoyed free BMX coaching sessions at the Rock Up and Ride event at Burgess Hill’s BMX track, with professional coach Niki Spears."

The popular event was established four years ago and takes place every year.
