Building damaged and man treated after East Grinstead fire

A building was damaged and a man received treatment by fire crews after a fire at an industrial estate in East Grinstead.

Firefighters were called to a single storey building in the Charlwoods Industrial Estate at around 11pm after a fire broke out in the workshop of the building.

A spokesperson for West Sussex Fire and Rescue Service said five per cent of the building was damaged by the fire and 75 per cent was damaged by smoke.

No-one is reported to have been injured in the fire but a man was treated by crews at the scene for smoke inhalation.

Crews from East Grinstead, Forest Row and Haywards Heath tackled the blaze using four breathing apparatus, two hose reels, one water jet, a thermal imaging camera, a positive pressure ventilation fan and a hydrant.
