There then followed the Group 3 Meeting where we welcomed Guests from Clayton and Keymer with apologies for absence from Ditchling and Cowfold. Sue Davis (Clayton and Keymer) and Denise Carr (Group 5) both gave us a Report and Sarah Voce read the Ditchling Report in the absence of Pauline Lee, the Ditchling Chairman, together with her own Report as Group Chairman. We then enjoyed a talk given by Mavis McLaren on the subject of Hospital Radio. What used to be Cuckfield Hospital Radio originally started in 1976 and Mavis has been with them since 1978. Her very interesting and informative talk explained the workings of the Radio Station which included amongst other items, the types of music played and requested. She also explained that all Members of the Staff are unpaid volunteers. The Station is now known as Mid Downs Radio and is located at the Princess Royal Hospital. Mavis and a close friend, are the longest serving Members of the Staff at the Station and have each been awarded both Long Service Medals and Special Awards, which are very well deserved.
