Burgess Hill Bonfire Night hailed '˜amazing'

Thousands turned out in colourful and striking costumes on Saturday night for the Burgess Hill Bonfire Night celebrations.

The annual event sees the whole town come together for a bonfire spectacular – raising money for charity.

It is funded and organised by the Burgess Hill Bonfire Society.

Jude Reynolds, secretary for the society, told the Middy this year’s event was ‘amazing’. “Thousands came along, the crowd were great,” she said.

“We have got a ballpark figure and we will be able to confirm this at a later date, but we think it is quite a good amount to go to the charities.

“Next year it will be our 50th birthday, and we want next it to be bigger and better, but we need donations to make that happen. We want it to be a real wow factor next year.”

Money raised at this year’s event is going to four charities; Sussex Search And Rescue, King’s Auto Repairs, The Lions Club Welfare Fund and Evelina VIPs transplant support team.
