Lorries delivering testing equipment for an oil well nicknamed the ‘Gatwick Gusher’ were met by protestors.
A Surrey Police spokesman said officers were called to ‘keep an eye’ on the deliveries at the site in Horse Hill, Horley, today (February 3).
UK Oil and Gas Investments announced there could be as much as a billion barrels of oil beneath the site in the Weald Basin last April.
A spokesman said he hoped the flow tests which will determine the commercial viability of extracting oil there would start next week.
Some 35 people attended a Frack Free Surrey protest at the site on Sunday (January 31).
Campaigners feared rocks suitable for fracking would be revealed by oil exploration works at the site.
The UKOG spokesman said it was a ‘non-fracking’ company.
