FROM CHILDREN’S HOME TO SOLDIERS’ HOSPITAL Chailey Heritage in the First World War On Thursday February 4 Chailey Heritage Foundation is opening its doors to the local community for a captivating talk on its history, and an opportunity to learn about the work the charity does today. Established in 1903, Chailey Heritage Foundation has a fascinating history supporting children and young people with a range of conditions such as tuberculosis, rickets, and polio, even treating injured soldiers during both World Wars. Guest speaker, Dr Julie Anderson, Reader in the History of Modern Medicine at the University of Kent, will talk about Chailey Heritage Foundation’s pioneering approach to the rehabilitation of soldiers injured in the First World War. After the talk, guests will have an opportunity to have a look round some of the facilities, meet some of the charity’s beneficiaries and speak to its dedicated staff. The event will take place at Chailey Heritage Foundation between 6pm and 8pm and is free of charge, but numbers are limited. If you would like to come along please contact Jenny Hanraads on 01825 724444 (Ext 725) or email firstname.lastname@example.org to receive a ticket.

IMPORTANT PLEASE NOTE in future if you wish an event in Chailey to be mentioned in this column please send the details to firstname.lastname@example.org. Please don’t rely on me receiving the information in the parish magazine, online or by word of mouth; as in future information will only be included if it is received by email. For maximum publicity please let me have details of the event (whenever possible) well in advance so that I have time to include it in the papers. Many thanks.
