MUM & TODDLER GROUP: is being set up at St Peter’s Church on Chailey Green starting in September, which will be free of charge and coffee, tea and biscuits will be available to parents and carers. RIDE & STRIDE: takes place this Saturday (September 10) and you can raise funds for a very special chapel, St Martin’s Chapel at Chailey Heritage Foundation. This can be done by walking, running, cycling or horse riding between churches across Sussex. The Foundation is also looking for volunteers to ‘man’ the Chapel from 10am to 5pm. AUTUMN SHOW: is at the village hall this Saturday (September 10). Everyone is invited to see the exhibits from 2.30pm and enjoy delicious refreshments, which will include homemade cakes, a raffle and maybe stay a while as there will be prize giving and an auction of produce at about 4pm. VOLUNTEERING AT THE BLUEBELL RAILWAY: want to find out more? There is a ‘Find Out More Day’ this Sunday (September 11) and anyone, skilled or unskilled, who can offer a day a month or more to the Railway are invited to ‘find out more’ about volunteering in our various departments. CRICKET: sees Chailey in the last friendly game of the season this Sunday (September 11) against Southwick Wanderers, at the sports ground North Chailey, starting at 1pm.

AUTUMN FUNDRAISING BALL: takes place on Saturday September 17; this will be a glittering evening of delicious food, entertainment and dancing at Glyndebourne to raise funds for the Chailey Heritage Foundation. The evening will be hosted by Katie Derham, there will be a Charity Auction by Sotheby’s, food by Leith’s at Glyndebourne and live music and dancing. BO PEEP HILL CLIMB: is at Alciston on Sunday September 18. Volunteers are sought to assist on the Chailey Heritage Foundation fundraising stand and with bucket collections from 8.30am to 5pm at this classic car hill climb. LUNCH CLUB: at St Peter’s Church is held monthly at 12.30pm in the church on Chailey Green and the next lunch club is on Thursday September 22. All are welcome to go along for a delicious meal, meet new people and chat and relax. The food is all freshly prepared and home-cooked with a main course, choice of puddings and tea/coffee for £5 per person. There is easy access and disabled toilet facilities. JUMBLE SALE: in aid of Chailey Bonfire Society will be at the village hall on Saturday September 24 at 11am. Donations of jumble will be much appreciated; please take jumble donations to the hall from 9am and do go along at 11am as there are sure to be lots of bargains

DINNER DANCE: in support of Chailey Heritage Enterprise Centre (CHEC) takes place at Newick Village Hall on Saturday September 24 at 7.30pm. CHEC is a charity which supports severely handicapped young adults by giving them the opportunity to work. There is a remarkable team of individuals who work there and the work they create is fabulous. For more details visit http://www.chec.co.uk/. The purpose of the Dinner Dance is twofold; the first is to eat great food, drink fine wine and enjoy live music, with the Resevoir Frogs, surrounded by your friends and the second is to raise as much money as possible for this wonderful charity.
