Permission was granted by Mid Sussex District Council (MSDC) in December to build one large dwelling on the play meadow.

Earlier in the year a community campaign raised £100,000 to buy the field, but it was rejected as Mid Sussex District Council said it was only 11 per cent of the market value.

The original application has been dropped, but a new application has been submitted for the same plot of land.

Nearby residents have campaigned for ‘years’ to protect the meadow, and plan to take the case to judicial review if permission is granted tonight.
