The following are the Remembrance Services and Parades that are planned for across Sussex.

Sunday 10th November

Alfriston

Alfriston & District Branch assemble in the Square at 10.30am on Remembrance Sunday and march to “The Cathedral of the Downs” for a service followed by lunch at the Star Inn.

Arundel

The Arundel & District Branch Service of Remembrance will take place at the Arundel War Memorial, in the town square, on Sunday 10th November, starting at 10.50am.

Bexhill on Sea

Starts at Devonshire Square, Bexhill at 10.20am marching to the Seafront Memorial for the Remembrance Service.

Billingshurst

The Parade will muster at Combe Hill leaving at 10.25am to be in position at the War Memorial for 11am. This will be followed by a service in the Parish Church.

In severe Inclement weather the Parade and War Memorial dedication will be suspended and events transferred to the Parish Church.

In the evening there will be a Remembrance Thanksgiving service at St Gabriel’s Catholic Church Billingshurst at 6.30pm.

Bognor Regis

The annual Bognor Regis Remembrance Parade will take place on Sunday; the parade will assemble at the Edward Bryant School London Road Bognor Regis and March of to the Town Hall between 10.15am and 10.20am. The route will be down London Road past the library, through the precinct, turning right into High Street, left into York Road, left into Belmont Street proceeding to the town hall memorial for the half an hour service of remembrance and laying of the wreaths. The parade will then march back down Belmont Street where it will disperse.

Brighton, Old Steine

Parade to fall in at 10.30am along the western part of Maderia Drive. March off at 10.40am to the West side of the War Memorial for the Two Minute Silence. A short Non-denomial service and the Laying of Wreaths.

The Parade will then march North to Edward Street and return on the East side of the Memorial going South, Past the Saluting base at the War Memorial where the Salute will be taken by the Worshipful Mayor of Brighton & Hove. The Parade will dismiss in Maderia Drive at approx 11.45am.

Burgess Hill

On Sunday the parade will muster in the Cyprus road Car park in Burgess Hill at 10.15am. The parade will then proceed through the Town Centre to the Town War memorial where the wreaths will be laid and a short service will take place. We will then fall out and go to St John’s Church for a Drum head service in the church. Following the service the parade will reform outside the War Memorial and return to the Cyprus road Car Park via the saluting base.

On 11/11 the parade will muster outside the Town Council offices and march the short distance to the War Memorial where the wreaths will be laid and a short service will take place. Following the service a service of dedication will be held to dedicate the plaque in the War Memorial gardens remembering all the animals who lost their lives in Wars.

Burwash

Parade forms up in the Bear Car Park at 10.45am (all Legion Members and current Servicemen very welcome to march).

Buxted

Buxted and district branch will be holding the usual Parade at 10am Sunday at St Margarets Church Buxted Park, Buxted. Scouts, Cubs etc will attend.

Clayton & Keymer

Clayton & Keymer will be having a parade from the premises in Woodsland Road at 2pm to a service at Keymer Parish Church at 2.30pm followed by wreath laying at the Keymer war memorial and parade back to Woodsland Road. In the morning there will be wreath laying at Clayton Parish Church at 10.45am followed by the two minutes silence and a service in the church (the Chairman of Mid-Sussex District Council will be laying a wreath). A wreath will also be laid at the war memorial in the RBL premises in Woodsland Road at noon.

On Monday there will be a gathering at the Keymer War Memorial for the two minutes silence, exhortation and prayers at 11am.

Crawley

Main parade will go through the High Street, finishing at St John’s Church in time for the minute’s silence at 11am.

Ditchling

Ditchling Remembrance Parade will take place as usual on Sunday. We shall muster outside the Scout Hut in East End Lane then Parade from there down the High Street, along West Street to the War Memorial for the Act of Remembrance at 11am. We shall be accompanied by the Burgess Hill Youth Marching Band.

East Grinstead

There will be a Parade and Service at the East Grinstead War Memorial at 10.30am. The Parade which will be headed by two RBL Standards of the mens and women’s Sections followed by the Naval and RAF Associations, Scouts, Guides and Air Cadets. A bugler will sound off the last post at the end of the Service

Hailsham

We are having a service of Remembrance at Hailsham Memorial on Sunday 10.45am. There will also a be a short service on Monday November 11 at the Hailsham Memorial starting at 10.55am.

Hastings

Hastings Remembrance Parade is a civic parade and will take place on Sunday. The parade will form up at the Town Hall, march along Queens Road to Alexandra Park War Memorial collecting the veterans as it passes Morrison’s entrance. Parade to be in place by 10.55am.

Haywards Heath

The Remembrance day service will take place at the War Memorial on Muster Green. The Service will commence shortly before 11am to allow for the two minute silence to be observed. Following the service the Parade will march along Muster Green South into Boltro Road.

The Salute will be taken at the Town Hall and the parade will then fall out on the Town hall car park.

Heathfield

The service and parade in Heathfield is taking place in Old Heathfield Church at 10.30am followed by the standards etc being carried to the War Memorial nearly half a mile away.

Henfield

On Sunday the annual parade and church service will take place. The parade will leave the War Memorial in Cagefoot Lane at 9.15am and march to St Peter’s Church where the annual Remembrance Service, commencing at 9.45am will be held. The parade, let by the Brighton and Hove City Brass Band, will then return to the War Memorial where a short service of remembrance starting at 10.50am and involving all Henfield churches will take place.

Horsham

On Sunday, in the Carafax at 10.45am followed by Church Service, followed by Mobile Bar at the Edwin Hall (end of Telephone Exchange car park). Those marching need to be in the Telephone Exchange car park by latest 10.15am.

Monday November 11 10.45am 120 plus school children (4yrs to 8yrs), St Mary’s School, plus Chair of the Council, Standards, etc, will honour the original date.

Hove

Participants in the Parade will assemble at the front entrance of Hove Town Hall in Norton Road at 1.50pm.

The Parade will fall in and march to the War Memorial in Grand Avenue for the laying of wreaths. The Parade will then march off and the salute will be taken by The Worshipful the Mayor of Brighton & Hove. The Parade will continue on with the Mayoral Party, Councillors and Past Mayors bringing up the rear, to All Saints Church for a full Remembrance Service.

Hurst Green

Hurst Green will be holding a service/parade in the Village Hall on Monday the 11th at 11am.

Hurstpierpoint.

Hurstpierpoint will have a parade at 10.30am culminating at their parish Church at 11am with the two minutes silence and service.

Ifield

Two minutes’ silence at the Churchyard of St Margaret’s Church. Two services - one for young people at 10.15am and another at war memorial at 11am.

Lancing

St Mary`s Church at Sompting for 10.30am service. Then Parade from the club at 2.30pm to the memorial for wreath laying then church service and march back,

Lewes

The Lewes Parade be from 2.15pm to 4.15pm, the main road through Lewes will be closed to all traffic during that time.

The muster point is in car parking area in Westgate street which is off the High Street in the Bottleneck, the service is held at St John sub Castro church, Abinger Pl, Lewes, East Sussex BN7 2QA.

The parade sets off at 2.30pm.

Lindfield

Members of the Lindfield Branch and Members of the public will be mustering outside All Saints Church at the top of the High Street just before 2.45pm. Wreaths will be laid at the War Memorial at 2.45pm by the Branch President, Women’s Section President and representatives of local organisations before a church service at 3pm.

After the service there will be a parade down Lindfield high Street to the King Edward Hall where refreshments will be served.

All are welcome to join.

Little Common

Parade leaves Little Common RBL Club at 10.30am to proceed to St Marks Church where a service will take palce at 11am.

After the service there will be a short Ceremony at the Little Common War Memorial.

All are welcome to attend.

Mayfield, Hadlow Down and Five Ashes

The Act of Remembrance at the War Memorial will held at 10.45am on Sunday followed on conclusion of the ceremony by an ecumenical Service of Remembrance in St Dunstan’s Church.

The War Memorial at Five Ashes will be re-dedicated following renovation as part of the Remembrance Service. Accordingly the ceremony will begin at 2.15pm instead of the customary 2.30pm. Fr Nigel Prior has agreed to conduct the service.

The Service of Remembrance at St Mark’s Church, Hadlow Down will commence at 3pm.

Midhurst

On Remembrance Sunday the Royal British Legion together with the Midhurst Town Council and the Midhurst Town Trust will be unveiling a plaque to the memory of Corporal David O’Connor, R.M. The short ceremony will take place at 10.40am ahead of the familiar Wreath Laying Ceremony. The Lord Lieutenant for West Sussex, Mrs Susan Pyper will unveil the memorial, and representatives from 40 Commando Royal Marines will be attending, together with members of Corporal O’Connor’s family.

The Deputy Chaplain-in-Chief of the Royal Air Force and Honorary Chaplain to the Queen, the Reverend Jonathan Chaffey, will take part in the dedication at the War Memorial and will preach at the service in Midhurst Church.

Newhaven

We will be having a service at St Michaels Church here in Newhaven on Sunday.

Service is at 9.45am. We then parade down to the Memorial Gardens on South Way for the wreath laying and two minutes’ silence.

Plumpton

Our parade this year will be held at East Chiltington Church and we will hopefully be joined by local Youth Organisations. We gather at Hollycroft in Chapel Lane at 10.30am.

Polegate

Service to be held at St Johns Church polegate at 10.30am

After the service everyone welcome to join us back at the The Royal British Legion, Polegate for some light refreshments and entertainment.

Portslade

Easthill Park Memorial, Portslade - 11am

A Parade will depart from Portslade Town Hall, Victoria Road, Portslade at 10.20am and proceed to Easthill Park for a ceremony and laying of wreaths at 11am. In case of heavy rain this sevcie willbe held in St Nicholas Church.

Ringmer

Ringmer Branch will be holding its usual parade.

Forming up behind shops in Springett Ave at 10.30am and moving off to the War Memorial about 10.45am. A short service there, followed by the act of remembrance at 1100. Then a service in the church and marching back to the shops afterwards.

Robertsbridge

Sunday Parade 10.15am at the recreation ground - march to church for Service (to include two minutes’ silence) - march from church to village memorial for wreath laying (around noon).

Monday November 11 Parade 10.45am at village memorial for two minutes’ silence and wreath laying.

Rottingdean

The Rottingdean parade will form up at the White Horse Hotel at 11.30am and process up the High Street (moving off at 11.40am) to the War Memorial on the Village Green. The service of remembrance will start at 12 noon.

Rye & District

A Parade of Service, Civil and Youth Organistations will take palce in front of the Town Hall at 10.40am where the Mayor will inspect and take the Salute.

The Annual service of Remembrance will be held in Rye Parish Church of St Mary at 10.55am. Please ensure you are seated in the church by 10.50am. After the service there will be a short Ceremony at the War Memorial in the Churchyard.

Seaford

Sunday 10th November - Seaford. 10.30am: Gathering at town War Memorial for Service of Remembrance, then to St Leonards Church for Service of Remembrance.

Shoreham by Sea

Parade will assemble at the Community Centre on Pond Road at 9.30am. Parade will march off via Western Road and Brunswick Road to the Church of St Mary de Haura at 9.40am where a remembrance service will be held.

A Wreath laying Ceremony will be held at the War Memorial at 11am.

Southwick Green

the Southwick Green branch service will take place on Southwick Green at 11am. The march will start at 10.30am from Southwick Square.

Storrington

Storrington will have a Remembrance Parade - starting from the Leisure Centre @ 1;50 to arrive at the Storrington Church of St marys by 2.55pm for the wreath laying ceremony. Weather permitting. ie A rain storm could cancel the parade.

The Church service would proceed as usual.

Ticehurst, Stonegate, Flimwell Branch - Remembrance Programme

Sunday

10.50am – Commemoration at Ticehurst War Memorial – Village Square

11.15am – Remembrance Service in Ticehurst Church, with reading of names on all memorials in Ticehurst, Stonegate, and Flimwell by children of the villages.

Monday

10.55am – Commemoration of Armistice Day, at Ticehurst War Memorial with Ticehurst Primary School present.

Uckfield

The Parade will form at the North End of Luxford Field Car Park. The Parade will depart at 2.35pm and will proceed to the Church of the Holy Cross for the Remembrance Service via Civic Approach, Uckfield High Street and Church Street.

After the Church Service there will be Wreath Laying at the Memorial. The Parade will then reform and return to Luxford Field Car Park via Church Street, Uckfield High Street and Library way where the Mayor of Uckfield, Councillor Ian Smith, will take the Salute.

Wadhurst & Tidebrook

Muster at Gloucester Place, Sparrows Green, March off at 10am. Proceeding to the War Memorial for a short service of Remembrance then March to Wadhurst Parish Church for teh Main Service.

Willingdon

Willingdon Branch will be attending the parade through Willingdon Village to St Mary the Virgin Church, Willingdon, lead by the Eastbourne District Scout Band also Parading will be Councillors from Willingdon & Jevington Parish Council, Willingdon Branch of St John Ambulance, 1st and 2nd Willingdon Scout Group and Guiding in Willingdon. The young people from the youth organisations take part in the Service in the Church. At 3pm the Branch will attend the memorial service at the “Ruthless” Memorial at Butts Brow, Eastbourne. Both of these events are organised by Willingdon & Jevington Parish Council.

Wittering

Witterings parade is on Monday November 11: muster at 10.30am parade through the village to the Remembrance Stone for the service at 11am

Worthing Parades:

Saturday November 9, 10.30am for 11am Remembrance service at the War Memorial in Broadwater Cemetery - run by Sea Scouts for the Combined Ex-Services Association.

Sunday 10th 10.30am for 11am Armistice Parade and Service at the War Memorial outside the Town Hall.

2.45pm Symphony Concert in Assembly Hall in memory of the Arctic convoys, with music written by an Arctic Convoy sailor, and displays.

5.45pm for 6pm; Worthing Royal British Legion Branch annual Armistice service at St George’s Church, St Georges Road, Worthing. A calm end to a busy week.

Monday 11th 10.30am for 11am; Armistice Day service and silence at the War Memorial outside the Town Hall

Sunday 17th 10.45am for 11am; Brief Memorial at the War Birds Memorial in Beach House Park. The only one in the country.
