Crawley and Mid Sussex to welcome new top officer

Chief Inspector Rosie Ross will take over from acting Chief Inspector Jon Carter on Monday (March 6).

Speaking about her new role, Rosie said: “My career with Sussex Police started in Mid Sussex and Crawley back in 2000 and so I jumped at the opportunity to return here as District Commander and continue to build on some of the really good work underway.

“We have some really solid, local partnerships and relationships with the community which I only want to see grow and prosper.”

Following a promotion to Sergeant in 2003, Rosie became a Divisional Duty Inspector for East Sussex in 2007 before working in Licensing and Anti-Social Behaviour. She then became a Chief Inspector for the Safer East Sussex Team before taking on this latest role.

Superintendent James Collis said: “I’m delighted that Rosie has come back to the district where she began her career with Sussex Police. I’m sure her skills and experience will help her build on the excellent work that both Dave Padwick and Jon Carter have achieved.”

A fan of all outdoor sports, particularly skiing and obstacle course running, Rosie admits that she has always wanted to work for the police: “Growing up in Northern Ireland, my grandfather and uncle were both police officers.

“I’ve just always loved the feeling that I can help make a difference and do my best to protect the most vulnerable.”
