Crawley Down man confronts burglary suspect

Police have released an efit after a Crawley Down resident confronted a burglary suspect.

The homeowner found a man in his house in Turners Hill Road on Wednesday (May 25), said Sussex Police.

A spokesman said the victim was in his front garden before he went indoors and noticed his back door was ajar at 5.15pm.

“He then saw the suspect inside his house and asked what he was doing. The man replied that his car had collided with a cat and he had seen it limp inside.

“The householder did not believe him and demanded that he empty his pockets, which disclosed nothing except a small penknife. “However, after the man had gone the victim found money had gone missing from his wallet,” said the spokesman.

A police appeal stated £60 was stolen and released this efit of the suspect.

The suspect was a white man, 6’, of slim build and under 30 years old. He had mousey brown hair which was slightly greasy. He was wearing blue jeans and a blue zip-up coat, beneath which was a blue hoodie.

Anyone able to help with information about the suspect or suspicious activity in the Turners Hill Road area is asked to email [email protected] or phone 101, quoting serial 1118 of 25/05.
