A spokesperson for West Sussex Fire & Rescue Service said: “Green Watch at Crawley Fire Station had a varied shift on Sunday night into Monday morning, attending a number of different incidents.

“Not long after coming on duty at 7pm, the crew were mobilised to reports of a small fire in the open in Gossops Green, which was quickly extinguished. This was the third fire in the open of the day, with the day crew having already attended two other small fires in the open at Copthorne Common and Tilgate Forest earlier in the day.
