Bruce Wells has flown the distinctive flag all over the UK and abroad.

The St George’s flag has the words ‘Crawley Town FC’ across the centre of the red cross and the words ‘That Tin Pot Club From Sussex’ in the top left hand corner.

Bruce believes the flag was stolen by rival fans from another country from outside a bar in Nice.

He posted a message on the social media site Twitter on Sunday saying: “Got my flag stolen in Nice.”

Later, he posted: “That’s it. I will never see my flag again.”

He thinks that Russian or Polish supporters may be responsible for taking it.

Earlier, on Friday, he posted photos of himself and friends in front of the flag, saying: “In the fan park in Nice. Everyone loves the flag!”

Now, on hearing of the theft, Crawley Town Supporters Alliance have started a collection to help Bruce replace it.

And his aunt Debby Smith has also appealed for help to get another flag.

She wrote on Twitter: “Bruce is an avid Crawley FC fan and proudly flies their flag at every opportunity and it has been pictured all over the UK and abroad ...

“Bruce has England tickets right through to the final and his flag would have been proudly displayed at every game.

“Can anyone help and create another flag for him?”
