Laaibah Khan has smashed her initial target of £500 for the Little Princess Trust and has now pledged to have her hair cut to donate to a child cancer-sufferer after £2,000 is raised.

Her mum Rozina said Laaibah’s fundraising came out of the blue: “She came home from school and said, ‘Mummy, instead of giving money I want to donate my hair, I want to give it to somebody’.

“She actually chose the charity herself.

“She’s a bright little girl... she’s already researching things.”

Laaibah, of Maidenbower, said on her page: “I love my hair very much and always wanted to grow it like [in Disney film] Tangled. But this is for a great cause and I made my mind up straight away.”

Rozina, a Thomas Bennett Community College teacher, said Laaibah was ‘really really happy’ after she checked her iPod and saw she had raised more than £1,000 less than two days after it was set up. Laaibah spoke to her headteacher at Handcross Primary School after reaching the milestone.

Her page reads: “I have decided to donate my hair to the Little Princess Trust to be fashioned into a wig for a child who has lost their hair in cancer treatment. I want to give it to someone who needs it more than I do.

“There are a lot of people who are close to me who have either lost someone because of this illness or are fighting the battle.

“My thoughts and love go out to all that have been affected especially to the following people who are very special to me and always will be... My Granddad who lost his Sister to cancer, my Daddy who lost two of his grandmothers and many others.”

Laaibah will have her hair cut to an inch in length at Zerooti Hair Design in Church Walk - visit https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/LaaibahKhan
