Police are investigating after an 11-year-old boy was attacked on his way home in Burgess Hill.

A police spokesman said he was abused, pushed and shoved to the ground, put into a shopping trolley and tipped out after being pushed along for a short distance in St Johns Park between 5pm and 7pm on January 21.

“He suffered cuts and bruises and made his way home, very upset,” said the spokesman.

PC Andrew Mackay said: “This was an unprovoked, cowardly assault on an 11-year old by a group including some older boys. We have interviewed three suspects, aged 15, 15 and 14, under caution on suspicion of assault, and enquiries are continuing to establish the facts surrounding this unpleasant incident”.

People who saw what happened or have any other information were asked to contact 101@sussex.pnn.police.uk or call 101 quoting 47160010614.
