Her latest gripping read, The Flavours of Love, is an emotional thriller where moral dilemmas are central and where the complex emotions of family and friendships are intertwined.

It tells the story of Saffron Mackleroy, who is just getting over her husband’s brutal death when a letter from his murderer arrives, devastating her fragile family all over again.

Author Erin Kelly had what every would-be novelist dreams of - major success for her first novel, The Poison Tree, which was selected for Richard and Judy’s Summer Book Club in 2011 before being made into a two-part drama for television.

The Burning Air is her third novel and is a twisting, gripping plot full of dark secrets set around the MacBride family as they gather to celebrate Bonfire Night in a rambling old house in Devon.

This November is the first anniversary of the Book Lovers’ Supper Club, set up a year ago by Ditchling resident and journalist Melanie Whitehouse to combine a love of food and a passion for books in the The Barn in Ditchling.

An informal, Middle Eastern-style supper by Sultans Delight and a free glass of wine is followed by a talk and reading from the guest authors, and the opportunity for the audience to questions. Discounted copies of the authors’ books are supplied by The Mint House, Hurstpierpoint where you can also buy tickets for the event. Tickets are also available from Ditchling Post Office.

The book club featuring Erin Kelly and Dorothy Koomson is on November 26 and starts at 6.45pm. For aspiring novelists, it’s an occasion not to be missed.
