Can you help police tackle anti-social behaviour in Burgess Hill?

Since the beginning of December officers have received 18 reports of anti-social behaviour in the town centre and nine in St John’s Park and surrounding roads.

In one incident, a shopping trolley was thrown from the second storey of The Martlets Car Park in Civic Way, which could have caused serious injury.

Many of the crimes have taken place at the car park and involve shopping trolleys being used to cause damage.

PCSO Karen Iles said: “We are working with partner agencies to combat this problem and local officers and PCSOs are increasing patrols in the area.

“As well as dangerous use of trolleys we’ve also had reports of eggs and flour being thrown at cars and houses in the vicinity.”

Police have asked the public to ensure shopping trolleys are returned to their point of origin and not left in the car park, where possible.
