Chance to quiz Sussex Police

The public are to get the chance to challenge both the Sussex Police and Crime Commissioner and the Sussex Police and Crime Panel.

The opportunity will come when the panel holds its annual meeting, on Friday June 28th.

The Police and Crime Panel, comprising councillors from all 15 local authorities plus two independent members, was formed last November to scrutinise the actions and decisions made by Commissioner Katy Bourne. This month’s annual meeting will scrutinise her Annual Report.

“This is an excellent chance to put questions to the Commissioner and the Panel at the same time,” said Panel Chairman Brad Watson OBE, who is a member of West Sussex County Council.

“However we do need questions to be submitted by noon the previous day, so we can be sure of giving the fullest and most up to date answers.”

The Panel will look at how the Commissioner has fulfilled her role since she was appointed in November.

Members will also make appointments to the roles of Panel Chairman and Vice-Chairman. The meeting, which will be filmed, will take place at the County Hall headquarters of East Sussex County Council in Lewes at 10.30am on the 28th.
