Man assaulted and knocked out in Burgess Hill

A man was assaulted in Burgess Hill when he was attacked by three men, one of whom used a metal bar.

The 40-year-old victim, who is local, was walking near to the Jacobs Post public House in Church Road when he was set upon by the trio at around 11.50pm on Saturday (May 18).

He was knocked unconscious and left lying on the pavement with injuries to his head and face which required hospital treatment.

A police spokesperson said: “This was a particularly nasty attack which left the victim with significant injuries.

”We’re keen to hear from anyone who was in the area at the time who may have witnessed what happened as we believe there were a number of people around. The victim was smartly dressed in a shirt and tie.

“Anyone with information is asked to contact police on 101, quoting serial 1731 of 17 May. Alternatively call the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.”
