Man fined for driving with invalid licence

A man has been fined for driving without a valid licence.

Mark Maynard, 28, of Highbank, Haywards Heath, pleaded guilty on Wednesday (May 13).

Crawley Magistrates’ Court heard he drove a Vauxhall vehicle on August 8 2014 in Turners Hill Road, Shoreham. His licence had been revoked by the DVLA.

The defence said Maynard was not aware he was breaking the law.

JPs heard the licensing authority sent letters, but the defence said they had gone to his previous address.

Maynard was fined £37 and ordered to pay £45 court costs and £20 victim surcharge.

Magistrates said it was his responsibility to inform the DVLA of a change in his circumstances.
