Second arrest after man found seriously injured in Crawley park

A second man has been arrested after a man was found with fractured eye sockets and a broken leg in a stream in Tilgate Park.

A Sussex Police spokesperson said officers identified a silver Mercedes saloon car in the Manor Royal area of Crawley at 2am on Saturday (December 12).

The vehicle was being sought in connection with the investigation into the incident in the park on December 8.

The spokesperson said: “As it stopped at traffic lights at the Tushmore roundabout on the southbound A23 officers approached the car which attempted to drive away, striking two police cars but causing no injury.”

A 19-year-old Crawley man was arrested on suspicion of kidnap, conspiracy to kidnap and grievous bodily harm.

He was also arrested on suspicion of theft of a motor vehicle.

After being interviewed he was released on police bail until March 29 while enquiries continue.
