Woman threatened and racially abused on Gatwick to Bedford train

A man claimed he had acid as he threatened and racially abused a woman on a rail service between Gatwick Airport and Bedford, police have said.

Officers said a woman was on board a Thameslink service between the two stations when a man started to verbally abuse her at about 12.30pm.

The man threatened her with violence, claiming he had acid and implying he had a knife, and used racially offensive language, officer added.

The incident took place on September 21 and police have released details today (November 22) along with a CCTV image.

A British Transport Police spokesman said: “Officers believe the man shown in this CCTV image may have information which could help them investigate.”
