Ditchling

Ditchling Singers: as the days are getting shorter what a better way to lift your spirits than to sing popular songs with this friendly choir. No auditions and the first session is free. The choir rehearses on alternate Sundays. The November dates are Sunday 4 November, 4-6pm in the Old Meeting House in Ditchling and Sunday 18 November, 4-6pm at Keymer Church Hall. Ditchling WI: at the October meeting Geoffrey Mead spoke about Firle Place. This is a fascinating manor house. The Old House dates back to the sixteenth century, the Tudor house and the Georgian house all make up the house which we see today. The next meeting is on 1 November at 2.15pm in Ditchling Hall and is the Annual Meeting. There will also be light entertainment of board games. All are welcome.

Ditchling Film Society: is showing two films in November. The first is on Thursday 1 November and is Custody. Director: Xavier Legrand, French. 2017. 93 mins. 15 cert. And on Thursday 15 November the Society is showing A Fantastic Woman. Director: Sebastian Lelio. Chile Spanish. 2017 100 mins. 15 cert. Films are shown in Ditchling Village Hall and start at 8pm. Doors open at 7.30pm. Free coffee and biscuits beforehand and wine can be purchased by the glass. There is ample free parking behind the hall. Guests and temporary members are welcome for the sum of £5 payable at the door.

Ditchling downs WI: the October meeting began with a fashion show presented by Elegance from Haywards Heath. This was in two parts, one before and the other after the AGM. It was a slick and enjoyable performance and congratulations must go to Maxine and all the models. The next meeting is on Tuesday 6 November at 7.30pm in Ditchling Village Hall. The speaker, Nancy Stratford will be talking about Anecdotes of an Air Hostess. Guests are very welcome to come along and join us.
