Drug and alcohol action team’s call for recipes

RECIPES and memories of the joys of cooking are wanted by the West Sussex Drug and Alcohol Action Team’s Families and Friends Network.

The Network, which runs drop-in centres throughout the county for families and friends that have been affected by someone else’s drink and substance misuse, is producing a recipe book.

Abby Burch, a Support Worker with the Network, said: “One of the aims is to promote the importance of families getting together and communicating.

“Being a recipe book, it will highlight the fact that food and meal times are really important to all families. It’s when they’re together, enjoying a meal and sharing thoughts and views about their day without any distractions.

“We want to hear from anyone who has a favourite recipe and memory about food – such as ‘cooking at home with mum’ or ‘the smell that takes me back to my childhood’.”

The recipe book will build upon the success of previous projects organised by the Network, such as its photographic competition in 2009 and last year’s poetry competition.
