East Grinstead’s Best Young Chef named at cooking competition

Youngsters with a passion for cooking went head to head for the title of Best Young Chef in East Grinstead .

The annual Rotary Young Chef competition, organised by The Meridian Club, took place on Tuesday, December 3 at Sackville School.

A total of eight competitors aged 15 years took part in the contest, which was marked by professional chefs who considered their planning, preparation, cooking, and presentation.

The youngsters were asked to create a healthy two course mean for two persons, with a budget of £15.

Waitrose sponsored the competition, providing all the ingredients required by the young chefs.

Georgia Kewell was named the winner, and was presented with her prize by town mayor Danny Favor and Daniele Lloyd, East Grinstead Meridian Rotary president

The winner and runner-up will progress to the Rotary District finals at The Oxted school in January.
