Head Gardener Andy Stevens, explains: “This spring we are hoping for a repeat of last year’s stunning display and with several of our magnolias classed as ‘champion trees’ and over 40 feet tall, you can be guaranteed an impressive spectacle!”

On Tuesday 5 and 12 of April at 11.30am Andy will give visitors who are not in a group, an informative tour around the garden discussing the history and importance of the numerous Magnolias, many of which are original specimens planted over 80 years ago by the Garden’s founder Colonel Stephenson R Clarke. Guided tours will also be available for pre-booked groups, between March 28 and April 15. An informative free magnolia map will be available for all garden visitors.

To mark the 50th anniversary of the garden being open to the public in 2015, 50 new magnolias have been added to the existing renowned collection of over 100 magnolias in the garden and woodland areas which was featured on BBC TV ‘Gardeners’ World’ last spring. March and April are the best times to admire these rare gems.
