Waste and Recycling collection changes

The updated collection dates are:

Monday, December 23

Tuesday, December 24

Friday, December 27

Saturday, December 28

Monday, December 30

Tuesday, December 31

Thursday, January 2

Friday, January 3

Saturday, January 4

The normal collection dates are:

Monday, December 23

Tuesday, December 24

Wednesday, December 25

Thursday, December 26

Friday, December 27

Monday, December 30

Thursday, January 2

A spokesman for the council said: "Please make sure your bins are at the edge of your property, at the point nearest the highway, by 7am on the day of collection.

"All waste and recycling collections will return to normal from Monday, January 6."

Plastic (including moulded plastic packaging), food pots, tubs and trays, foil, metal (including biscuit and sweet tins, cans and empty aerosols), glass, paper, card, and Tetra Paks can all be accepted.

Christmas crackers can be recycled if the contents and snap are removed.

Wrapping paper can be recycled if it is non-shiny and holds its shape if scrunched.

Bubble wrap, cling film, sweet wrappers, tree decorations, dirty foil, batteries, Christmas tree lights, and textiles cannot be recycled, and Christmas tree lights, batteries and textiles should not go in black bins.

Garden waste collections

The last collection day for green waste bins is Friday, December 20.

There will be no garden waste collections between Monday, December 23 and Friday, January 3.

Garden waste collections will return to normal from Monday, January 6.

Bulky waste collections

The last collection of bulky waste items before Christmas is Wednesday, December 18.

The first collection after Christmas is Wednesday, January 8.

Christmas trees

Real Christmas trees can be composted in your garden waste bin.

Alternatively, there will be temporary sites where you can drop off your real Christmas tree for recycling.

These sites will be open between Saturday, December 28 and Friday, January 10.
