Fire at property in Burgess Hill

Fire crews dealt with a fire at a property in Folders Lane yesterday afternoon (May 15).

A spokesperson for West Sussex Fire & Rescue said the call came in at 4.09pm.

Crews from Burgess Hill Haywards Heath, Brighton and East Sussex Fire & Rescue attended, the service said.

The spokesperson said, “Upon arrival they found a fire on the ground floor of the detached property, with the building heavily smoke logged. Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus quickly got to work extinguishing the fire using two hose reels.

“They remained at the scene turning over and damping down to ensure there were no further hotspots.

“Fortunately there were no casualties as a result of this fire, which is believed to have started accidentally.”
