Performer Lejaune Andre is promising something special - the Motown music he grew up with.

“What makes Motown so magical is the foundation of the music,” Lejaune said. “Every time you put on Motown, somebody taps their feet. The formula is just so awesome. People are trying to reduplicate it, people are trying to copy it, but they just can’t. People try to emulate it, but it’s impossible.

“The bass line was created and then the boys just built it around it and then made it all happen,” says Lejaune who grew up in Miami, Florida.

“It was difficult. My neighbourhood was not the best neighbourhood. It was hard, but we didn’t know how hard it was. But mom and dad brought us up happy as kids. We had the toys they could get, but in our community you had to really really fight to survive - and I mean literally. I had to defend myself just from getting beaten up. Being a small-framed guy, I had to learn to look after myself!”

Music was always there: “At the graduation, I was chosen to sing the class song. We are talking fifth grade. Music was always part of what I did. Our moms and dads would say ‘Let’s get the kids dancing and singing and whoever is best gets a dollar!’ After we got older, I started to sing at weddings and banquets and parties. Even while I was manager at McDonald’s, I was doing my little show!”
