Four people were arrested after ‘several’ bags of drugs and a knuckle duster were found in a broken down vehicle on the A23, police have said.
Police said officers were called to the northbound carriageway of the motorway near Handcross at around 2.40am on Saturday May 28.
On arrival, officers said they discovered a blue BMW which was unattended. Shortly afterwards, four men were seen walking south on the A23 towards the car, and explained to police that it had run out of fuel.
A police spokesman said: “A strong smell of cannabis was detected from within the vehicle and a search was carried out, following which several bags of drugs and a knuckle duster were seized.
“At least eight small bags of drugs were seized, however the exact type and quantity of drugs forms part of our investigation.”
