Lots of young people and their families came along to find out about gas, plumbing and electrical apprenticeships, a spokesman said.

As well as going on a tour, they had the chance to get hands on in the gas and electrical workshops.

A spokesman from Steve Willis Training Centres said the trainers ‘were on hand to answer any questions, and to explain how an apprenticeship is a great option for school leavers who want to get started on their careers rather than continue in full time education’.

National Apprenticeship Week is an opportunity for people to think about the benefits of an apprenticeship.

For the apprentices, it’s a chance to earn while they learn with support from experienced professional trainers who will guide them every step of the way.

For employers, taking on an apprentice can be a cost effective way to meet staffing needs now, and to plan for the future.
