Generous housebuilers’ donation was gratefully received by hospice

There was delight after St Peter and St James Hospice was handed a £250 donation.

The donation from Taylor Wimpey was made as part of the housebuilder’s monthly donation box scheme to vote for one of three local good causes to receive its support.

After receiving the most votes throughout the month of July from visitors to its Greenhill Gardens development in Haywards Heath, the hospice in North Chailey was announced as the latest winner.

Through its inpatient ward, wellbeing services and specialist community nursing team, St Peter & St James Hospice provides expert and compassionate hospice care to people living in Haywards Heath and the surrounding villages, as well as support for their families and friends.

The hospice site opened in 1975 just over 20 years after the founders, Jim Dinnage and his wife Susan, lost their son Peter to Hodgkin’s Lymphoma.

The hospice aims to make a positive difference to the lives of those who face bereavement by offering high quality care, support and understanding.

Commenting on the donation from Taylor Wimpey, Wendy Agate, community fundraising manager at St Peter & St James Hospice, said: “The support we provide to patients and their families who are facing bereavement is so gratefully received and we do everything we can to provide comfort in what is an exceptionally difficult time.

“We are always grateful for extra funding which helps us to continue to provide our services and we are incredibly grateful for Taylor Wimpey’s donation. I would also like to thank everyone who voted for us, it’s hugely appreciated.”

Louise Adams, sales manager at Taylor Wimpey South Thames, said: “The care and support that St Peter & St James Hospice gives to people and their families in such difficult times really is invaluable and we were delighted to offer them a donation.

“We are committed to giving something back to the communities in which we are building and we value feedback from local people.”
