If you haven’t walked past the notice board outside the Spar Shop or past the board on the Pavilion on the Recreation Ground recently you may not be aware of the news relating to the Parish Hall. ‘Notice to Quit’ has been served on the Hall and Bowling Green as well as the Social Club; if you haven’t seen the notice, if you go to the Neighbourhood Planning Committee’s website (http://spcnhp.blogspot.co.uk), a link has been posted to view or download it. This is a shock to many as it was hoped that we would be able to continue to use the Hall for as long as it took to (hopefully) get a new one built. I am sure this is something that will be discussed by many over the coming weeks and should I hear anything new, I will let you know.
On Sunday, 17 October, the Waste Freighter will be in the car park at St Mary’s in Slaugham, from 10 until 11 am, moving on to Seaforth Hall in Warninglid where it will be from 11.10 am until 12.10 pm. Please note this is for household rubbish only ie landfill; do not take any computer equipment as this needs to be disposed of separately at the tip. Also, if the freighter isn’t there, please don’t leave your rubbish!
The next Neighbourhood Planning Committee Meeting will be on Monday, 19 October from 7.30 pm in the Pavilion; details of the agenda will be available on their website (see above) and I’m sure copies will be put up on the Parish notice boards outside the Spar Shop and on the Pavilion wall. As always, this meeting is open to the public and there is an opportunity for members of the public to raise questions or queries or comment on any item on the agenda.
The next meeting of the Rosemary Club is on Wednesday, 21 October in the Parish Hall; the doors open at 2 pm for a 2.30 pm start. This month’s entertainment is being provided by Two’s Company nee The Crockabillies and the meeting is open to all for the small charge to non-members of £1 which will give you a tea of homemade sandwiches and cakes. Members are reminded that menu choices for the Christmas Lunch on Wednesday, 16 December at Highley Manor will be taken at this meeting as well as names of those who will need a lift on the day as the Community Bus will not be available. If you are able to offer a lift, please let either Joan or Helen know, it would be much appreciated.
I am not sure if there are any places left on the Community Bus for the trip to Portsmouth on 20 October but if you are keen to go, get in touch with Christina either by calling into the Hardware Shop or give her a ring on 400212; the fare is £12. There are still plenty of seats still free on next month’s trip to Bluewater Shopping Centre on 17 November (fare of £12) but the trip to Winchester Christmas Market on 1 December is full; however, if there is sufficient demand, another trip might be able to be arranged. Again, if you are interested in any of these, call Christina on the number above or Sarah on 881663.
